Minimal Set of Markers for the Watershed Transform
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper discusses the inverse problem of the watershed. From a partition obtained by the watershed from markers, find the minimal set of markers that reproduces the same watershed partition. We present a solution based on the minimum spanning tree and introduce the concept of marker receptive region. We also review the watershed transform based on the minimum spanning forest problem. Two applications of this problem are presented: aid in assisted still image watershed segmentation, and evaluation of pre-processing filters.

Interactive Image Segmentation with Integrated use of the Markers and the Hierarchical Watershed Approaches
The watershed transform is a well-known approach for image segmentation. Watershed from markers and hierarchical watershed are derived from the watershed transform and are suitable for interactive image segmentation: in the former, the user can edit markers and control the segmentation result; in the latter, the user can select an image partition from a nested set of partitions. We investigate ...
متن کاملWatershed Transform based Interactive Image Segmentation Tool
Watershed from markers and hierarchical watershed are approaches suitable for interactive image segmentation: in the former, the user can edit markers to control the segmentation result; in the latter, the user can select an image partition from a nested set of partitions. We propose an interactive image segmentation tool that allows transition from one approach to other and thus the combinatio...
متن کاملIterative h-minima-based marker-controlled watershed for cell nucleus segmentation.
Automated microscopy imaging systems facilitate high-throughput screening in molecular cellular biology research. The first step of these systems is cell nucleus segmentation, which has a great impact on the success of the overall system. The marker-controlled watershed is a technique commonly used by the previous studies for nucleus segmentation. These studies define their markers finding regi...
متن کاملA Novel Spot-Enhancement Anisotropic Diffusion Method for the Improvement of Segmentation in Two-dimensional Gel Electrophoresis Images, Based on the Watershed Transform Algorithm
Introduction Two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2DGE) is a powerful technique in proteomics for protein separation. In this technique, spot segmentation is an essential stage, which can be challenging due to problems such as overlapping spots, streaks, artifacts and noise. Watershed transform is one of the common methods for image segmentation. Nevertheless, in 2DGE image segmentation, the no...
متن کاملRoad Segmentation by Watersheds Algorithms
A road segmentation technique is proposed based on a mathematical morphology tool called watershed transform. Starting from a coarse marker of the road to be segmented, we modify the gradient image of the scene and compute the watershed transform of this image. The result provides a fair segmentation of the road. The marker itself is produced by using the watershed transform, and a simplified r...
